Weary Legs in Tarbert

Todays mileage: Nearly 40
Trip total to date: 177
Total climb today: over 3000ft
Hours of sunshine: quite a few
Wind speed: dropped from 15 down to about 5 :)
Midge bites: 1
Tantrums: 0

Cycled to Hushinish from Tarbert and back, sensibly taking a packed lunch today - permanently hungry!
Legs feeling the miles and hills now but we were suitably distracted by the scenery again. Five deer ran across the road up ahead of us and watched us from the hillside.

We ate lunch watching gannets diving into the sea.

Busier on Hushinish beach than on any of the others we've seen so far.

Now in the bar in Hotel Hebrides, eating again before cycling back up hill (of course) to B&B. This is our last night on the Outer Hebrides, we get the early ferry to Uig tomorrow. One aspect that's been lovely is meeting up with other travellers as we have made our way up the islands - cycling groups, individual cyclists and walkers and holidaymakers - finally said goodbye to New Yorkers Rita and John and their friends today having first met them on the ferry from Oban and several times since then.

  1. Haha! I love the added midge bites and tantrums bit to the statistics!
Those deer look a bit unnerving as silhouettes...

  2. I went into the water here on a glorious warm sunny day. And I came straight back out again. The beach around the corner from here is called Traigh Mheilein & is well worth a picnic, with beautiful fine white sand, and there was absolutely no one there. We stayed in hostels which gave us the opportunity to talk to people with their own stories of where they'd been. Thanks for sharing your journey with us- it's a truly enchanting place.
