Windy......

Another 40 miles today bringing our total to 110 miles after day 3.
No rain but the wind was a challenge as we turned along the north coast of North Uist. Did wonder if I'd get blown off the bike. I now understand why the cycling guides for the Hebrides focus so much on the wind! The tan line on my shins in getting more distinct but the midge bite count is still zero. Coffee and cake stop count today was sadly also zero as everything closes on Sundays. I'm still obsessing about the hills I can see in the distance on Harris and the fact that Jon says they'll be good practice for Skye......

Jon's been channelling Edward Hopper in his photographs today

  1. We're really enjoying the blog and all of the stunning photos. Particularly liked Jon's empty roads from today - we felt the emptiness!
Not sure if Jacqueline is inspired to emulate you yet, but here's hoping.
Enjoy Harris. And if the sun is shining, try to fit in a detour to Luskentyre - must be one of the most spectacular beaches anywhere.

  2. Thanks both. We need more time here, there is loads to see and we are very much travelling through. We are already talking about plans for a return visit next spring.
