Arrived Nunton House Hostel

Speeding along today was easy with a 20mph following wind so the miles swiftly disappeared under our wheels.  We arrived at the our accommodation for tonight, the Nunton House Hostel, just as the rain really started to get going.

This place has been refurbished by proprietors, Catherine and Donald McPhee.  The building dates from 1659, and was "the former 18th century home of the Clan Chief of the Clan Ranald ; where Bonnie Prince Charlie got dressed as Betty Burke; Flora MacDonald's maid before escaping over the sea to Skye" (from Donald's excellent web site!).  Donald has been telling us about his grandfather recovering whiskey from the SS Politician, in 1941, as in the Whiskey Galore story.

This is great place to stay, and tomorrow we are heading off to Berneray, another 40 miles with a reasonable forecast, for cyclists heading north...
